The newly launched Samsung Galaxy Buds 4 series supports Ultra-High Quality (UHQ) audio and 24-bit Hi-Fi playback for music lovers who want richer and more detailed sound. However, Samsung has confirmed that this premium audio feature isn’t available on every connected device yet.
Ultra-High Quality (UHQ) audio means higher fidelity sound with more detail and clarity compared to standard Bluetooth audio. Samsung uses its Samsung Seamless Codec (SSC) to enable audio at up to 24-bit/96 kHz — delivering a clearer, more immersive listening experience.
To enjoy UHQ audio on your Galaxy Buds 4 or Buds 4 Pro, you must pair them with one of the following Samsung Galaxy devices running One UI 6.1.1 or later:
Samsung has hinted that support for more devices may be added in future updates.
Pairing with a compatible device is only half the story. To truly unlock the UHQ experience, you also need high-quality music source files or services — for example Tidal, Amazon Music Unlimited, or local lossless audio files. Streaming platforms like Spotify and YouTube often don’t support high-bitrate streaming, which means you might not notice UHQ audio if listening through them.
Galaxy Buds 4 series supports 24-bit UHQ audio via Samsung’s SSC codec.
Ultra-high quality audio is only available on select Galaxy phones and tablets with One UI 6.1.1+.
You’ll need high-resolution audio sources to make the most of the feature.
